Anubhav Sengupta is an associate professor, faculty in sociology, at Manipal Institute of SocialSciences, Humanities and Arts, MAHE, Manipal, Karnataka, India. He has a Doctor of Philosophy(PhD) degree in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. For completionand submission of the thesis, he was awarded the SYLFF fellowship, 2013—2016. His scholarlyinterests span student and youth movements in India, left-radical evolutionary movements,subjectivity studies, and political sociology and theories.

Karin Dean is a senior researcher in political geography at the School of Humanities, Tallinn University. She leads the Eur-Asian Border Lab supporting trans-regional conversations and synergies between border scholars across regions. Her research interest revolves around borders and the processes of bordering — on how different actors construct, negotiate and cross diverse borders in their claiming of volumetric political space. Her research draws on fieldwork atChina’s borderlands with Southeast Asia (Myanmar) and in northeast India.

Rashmi Sadana is Professor of Anthropology at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She is the author of The Moving City: Scenes from the Delhi Metro and the Social Life of Infrastructure (University of California Press, 2022), which was runner-up for the 2023 Pattis Family Foundation Global Cities Book Award, given by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. The Moving City was published in South Asia as Metronama (Roli Books, 2022). Her first book was English Heart, Hindi Heartland: The Political Life of Literature in India (University of California Press and Permanent Black, 2012), and she is co-editor ofThe Cambridge Companion to Modern Indian Culture (2012). She has published widely on the built environment in journals such as City & Society, Roadsides, Seminar , and EPW , and has written about the politics of transport in The Indian Express and Hindustan Times.

Roluahpuia is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Roorkee. His research interests broadly fall within the areas of Sociology of Development, Urban Sociology, Sociolog of Climate and Environment and Sociology of Tribes. He was awarded the Raghunathan Family Fellow (2018-19) by the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University. He currently serves as the Associate Editor of the journal Development in Practice.

Sarah Besky is Professor of the Anthropology of Work in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University. Her scholarship is primarily focused on the past and present of plantation-based production in India, and she is the author of The Darjeeling Distinction: Labor and Justice on Fair Trade Tea Plantations in India (2014) and Tasting Qualities: The Past and Future of Tea (2020), both published by University of California Press as well as the co-editor (with Alex Blanchette) of How Nature Works: Rethinking Labor on a Troubled Planet (SAR Press, 2019).

Sneha Annavarapu is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the South Asian Studies Programme at the National University of Singapore. Her research interests centre around the politics of transportation, infrastructure, class relations, and gender in contemporary Indian cities. She has published articles in the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Area, Social Problems, Social Change, Journal of Historical Sociology, and Journal of Consumer Culture and is currently working on a book project titled On The Move: the politics of driving in India.
